Kentucky Finishes Day One of NCAA Championships
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Kentucky men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the first day of competition at the 2022 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia, placing 17th in the 800 free relay.
Max Berg (1:33.86), Mason Wilby (1:33.61), Victor Martin Roig (1:34.68) and Jakob Clark (1:34.11) combined to turn in a final time of 6:16.26. It marked the first time since 2010 the Wildcat men have qualified to race the 800 free relay at the national meet.
Their time is the second fastest performance in school history, only behind their own 6:14.35 set at the Southeastern Conference Championships in February. The previous school record stood at 6:18.11 from 2020.
Kentucky is back in action on Thursday, March 24 for the second day of the big dance. Events featuring Wildcats include the 200 IM and 1-meter with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. ET and finals set for 6 p.m.
