Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is 8-6, 1-3 in the SEC this season, while Florida is 14-5, 4-2 in the league
    • This was the 61st all-time meeting between Kentucky and Florida in women’s basketball.
    • UK leads the all-time series in games played 34-27.
    • UK owns a 16-12 record in games played in Lexington.
    • UK has won 19 of the last 27 meetings, including seven of the last nine.
  • Kentucky is in its 48th season with a 871-563 (.607) all-time record.
  • Kyra Elzy is in her second season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 26-15 overall record.

Team Notes

  • Kentucky used the starting combination of senior guards Jazmine Massengill and Rhyne Howard, redshirt junior center Olivia Owens, sophomore wing Treasure Hunt and freshman guard Jada Walker.
    • This is the first time UK has used this starting combination this season.
    • Olivia Owens scored first for Kentucky in the game. It was the first time this season she has scored first.
    • Robyn Benton was the first sub for Kentucky. It was the third time she has been the first Wildcat off the bench.
    • Florida won the opening tip. It was the seventh time that UK has lost the opening tip.
  • The Wildcats trailed by eight in the first quarter before hitting five of its last five field goals to close the Florida lead to 20-16 at the end of the quarter.
    • UK was 7-of-13 from the field in the first quarter.
    • Florida’s first 10 points were scored in the paint, but they did not score another paint point in the first quarter.
    • UF won the rebounding in the first quarter 10-6 and had a 5-0 edge in second-chance points in the first quarter.
  • Florida started the second quarter on a 6-0 run to take its lead to double digits.
    • The Gators outscored Kentucky 24-10 in the second quarter
    • Florida ended the half on a 6-0 run and went on another 10-0 run during the quarter.
    • UK was 4-of-18 from the field in the second quarter, while Florida was 9-of-15.
    • Florida led 23-14 in total rebounds in the first half, including seven offensive rebounds.
    • UK had nine first-half turnovers and Florida scored 11 points off those miscues.
    • UF had a 20-14 edge in paint points in the first half.
  • This was Kentucky’s largest margin of defeat at home since Tennessee defeated UK 65-40 (25) on Jan. 17, 2008.
  • Florida shot 30-of-58 from the floor for 52 percent.
  • Kentucky was 18-of-66 from the floor for 27.3 percent.
    • The shooting percentage is the lowest of the season for Kentucky.
  • Florida outscored Kentucky in the paint 40-16.
    • The 16 paint points is the fewest for Kentucky since having 14 vs. South Carolina on Feb. 23, 2020.
