Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is 8-3, 1-0 in the SEC this season, while Georgia is 12-3, 1-2 in the SEC.    
    • This was the 60th all-time meeting between the two programs in women’s basketball.
    • UGA leads the all-time series 38-22, including a 14-12 mark in games played in Lexington.
    • Kentucky has won four of the last five meetings in the series.
  • Kentucky is in its 48th season with a 871-560 (.608) all-time record.
  • UK is 508-179 all-time at home, including a 478-161 record in Memorial Coliseum and 30-20 record in Rupp Arena.
    • The losses are off by two because UK played two NCAA Tournament games at home that cannot be considered home games by the NCAA.
  • Kyra Elzy is in her second season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 26-12 overall record.
    • Elzy is 19-3 at home during her UK tenure, including a 17-2 mark inside Memorial Coliseum.

  • Kentucky will be back in action Sunday, Jan. 9 at South Carolina inside Colonial Life Arena. The game will tip at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN and the UK Sports Network.  
  • Tonight’s attendance was 3,013, which was tickets out for the game since UK Athletics asked fans not to attend due to the inclement weather.

  • Kentucky used the starting combination of senior guards Jazmine Massengill and Rhyne Howard, redshirt junior forward Dre’una Edwards, sophomore wing Treasure Hunt and freshman guard Jada Walker.
    • This is the second time UK has used this starting combination this season.
      • UK is 2-0 with this starting combination.
    • Jada Walker scored first for Kentucky in the game. It was the second time this season she has scored first.
    • Robyn Benton was the first sub for Kentucky. It was the first time she has been the first Wildcat off the bench.
    • Georgia won the opening tip. It was the fourth time that UK has lost the opening tip.
  • Georgia started 4-for-4 from the field and led 9-3 early in the game before Kentucky went on a 8-0 run to take a 11-9 lead at the first media timeout.
    • Georgia missed eight straight shots after making its first four, powering the UK scoring run.
  • Kentucky led 20-18 at the end of the first quarter thanks to some impressive offensive numbers.
    • UK was 9-of-16 from the field in the first quarter, including 2-of-7 from 3.
    • UGA was 8-of-19 from the field with seven of its eight field goals made coming on assists.
    • Massengill had seven first-quarter points, going 3-of-4 from the field with a 3.
  • UK scored the first basket of the second quarter before UGA went on a 6-0 run to retake the lead. Kentucky answered with a 7-0 run to take its largest lead 29-24 at the second-quarter media timeout.

  • Kentucky outscored Georgia 26-19 in the fourth quarter to secure the win, including a 7-0 run to end the game.
