Kentucky Baseball’s Oraj Anu to Return for Final Season

by UK Athletics Communications and PR

Kentucky outfielder Oraj Anu will return to Kentucky for his final season of eligibility, giving the Wildcats an experienced, veteran presence. Anu joins pitchers Sean Harney, Daniel Harper and Mason Hazelwood as veterans exercising their Covid-relief season and returning to Lexington.

Anu, a senior who has served as both an outfielder and designated hitter, provides juice from both sides of the plate. His return is a boon to the lineup, having clubbed 21 extra-base hits in 240 career at-bats, including 11 home runs.

“We are delighted Oraj is returning for his final season,” UK coach Nick Mingione said. “He is a veteran presence who will provide invaluable experience for our team.”

In 2021, Anu batted .265 in 50 games, scoring 31 runs and driving in 35. He had eight doubles, two triples, eight home runs and four stolen bases while producing a .790 OPS. The Orlando, Florida was especially effective from the left side of the plate, batting .307 and he led the team in batting with a runner on third and less than two outs, driving in 13 runs in 16 opportunities. He had 14 multi-hit games and a 17-game reached base streak during the season.
