12 Personal Records Reset on Second Night of SEC Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Kentucky men’s swimming and diving team reset 12 personal records on the second day of the 2021 Southeastern Conference Championships at the Mizzou Aquatic Center on Wednesday.
 
Three Wildcats earned the second-, third- and fifth-fastest times, respectively, on the program’s all-time performance list in the 200 IM.  Sophomore Mason Wilby paced the trio, earning sixth place on a personal record 1:43.72. Senior Kyle Barker finished in 12th place, touching the wall on a personal record 1:44.61. Senior Daniel Orcutt finished in 15th place in 1:46.09, while he recorded a personal record 1:45.03 during preliminaries.
 
Before that, three distance swimmers reached finals in the 500 freestyle. Sophomore Jakob Clark paced the group, finishing in 12th place on a personal record 4:18.71. Senior Hank Siefert and junior Adam Rosipal went 1-2 in the “C” final of the event. Siefert finished in 17th place in 4:18.84, while Rospial finished in 18th place with a personal record 4:19.15.
 
Clark improved one spot on the program’s all-time performance list in the 500 freestyle with his finals swim, becoming the fourth fastest in the event in school records. Rosipal improved two spots on that list with his finals swim, becoming the fifth fastest in the event.
 
The 2021 SEC Championships resume Thursday for the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and the 400 medley relay. Preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. ET and finals begin at 7 p.m. ET, while fans can watch all of the action on SEC Network+.
