Kentucky Welcomes Old Dominion For Home Finale

by Connor Link

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a three-week stint away from home, the Kentucky Wildcats (9-4-2, 1-3-1 Conference USA) are set to return to Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex for the final time this season with a matchup against Old Dominion (1-2-3, 0-2-3 C-USA) on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.

Dave “Buzz” Baker will be live on the call for ESPN+.

The contest will serve as Kentucky’s annual senior day, honoring team captain Leon Jones and All-C-USA goalkeeper Enrique Facusse.

The Wildcats enter Saturday fresh off a 1-1 draw at FIU on April 3, which marked their second consecutive overtime match and seventh overall this season. Marcel Meinzer notched the first goal of his junior campaign with the equalizer in the 49th minute.

Old Dominion visits Lexington coming off its most lopsided defeat of the spring in a 3-0 loss at home to then-No. 17 Charlotte.

The last time the teams met in fall 2019, Kentucky’s Eythor Bjorgolfsson broke the hearts of the Old Dominion home crowd with both goals of a 2-1 double-overtime win for the Cats.
