Kentucky Headed to Wooo Pig Classic
A strong field of six teams will compete at the Wooo Pig, including Kentucky, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma State, South Carolina and Texas. The first national team rankings will not be issued until next week, but it is likely that some of these squads will be listed. UK will see many of these competitors again later in the season as Arkansas also will host the Southeastern Conference and NCAA Indoor Championships.
Kentucky is coming off the opening meet of the season last Friday and Saturday when the Wildcats played host to the McCravy-Green Invitational. UK won nine events over the two days, tying North Carolina A&T for meet-high honors.
The meet was highlighted by Abby Steiner’s victory in the 200-meter dash. Her time of 22.83 seconds currently is best in the world for the young indoor season (on all track sizes). Additional winners on the women’s side included Alexis Holmes in the 400m run (53.21 seconds), Jenna Gearing in the mile run (4:51.52), and the 4x400m relay of Megan Moss, Steiner, Dajour Miles and Holmes (3:35.52).
UK’s men’s winners included Lance Lang in the 200m, whose 20.94 time is No. 6 all-time at UK; Dylan Allen in the mile (4:07.43); Rahman Minor with a high jump of 6’11”; Josh Sobota with a shot put of 62’6″; and Matt Peare with 17’4.5″ in the pole vault.
Arkansas will put up a live stream via SEC Network+ on the ESPN app. Live results for this meet will be available at https://flashresults.com/2021_Meets/Indoor/01-22_WoooPigClassic/
