Kentucky Heads South for Weekend Road Trip at Alabama, Auburn

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After picking up its first league win in its Southeastern Conference home opener last weekend, No. 49 Kentucky (10-5, 1-1 SEC) will hit the road for a matchup with No. 17 Alabama (10-4, 1-1 SEC) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET and a showdown at Auburn (9-8, 0-2 SEC) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

In a 4-3 win over No. 38 LSU last Sunday, junior Millen Hurrion clinched both Kentucky’s first and last points of the day. The former Gardner-Webb transfer earned his first ranked win in doubles play alongside freshman Gabriel Diallo with a 7-6(9) thriller over No. 59 Rafael Wagner and Ronald Hohmann. Hurrion sealed the victory for the Wildcats in a three-set rematch with Hohmann on the No. 2 singles court, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Alabama enters Friday on the heels of a 4-3 win over 23rd-ranked South Carolina last Sunday, halting a two-match losing skid. Auburn has lost five straight, but the Tigers have a chance to right the ship before Kentucky comes to town when they host No. 45 Vanderbilt on Friday at 3 p.m.

Last year, Kentucky escaped with a pair of 5-2 wins when the No. 17 Crimson Tide and unranked Tigers visited Lexington. Kentucky has not lost to Auburn since 2011.
