Parking Info for Chris Stapleton’s ‘A Concert for Kentucky’

by Guy Ramsey

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two months away from “A Concert for Kentucky” — a special performance hosted by Chris Stapleton benefitting his newly created Outlaw State of Kind Hometown Fund – parking information for the event on April 25 at Kroger Field was announced.

Parking permits will be available exclusively online through Ticketmaster. People who have already purchased tickets to the concert will be able to purchase parking permits through a presale beginning on Wednesday. Purchasers will receive an email with presale details in advance. A general on-sale will follow on Friday. The following options will be available:

  • Standard permit – $40
  • ADA permit – $40
  • RV permit – $100

All concert parking must be purchased in advance. Parking at the Kroger Field Complex will not be available for sale on day of show. Permits must be purchased online by April 10 in order to be mailed in time prior to the concert. If permits remain after April 10, they may be purchased in person only at the Joe Craft Center Ticket Office prior to the day of the show. There will be no parking permit sales the day of the concert. Permits purchased online will be mailed beginning in March.

Kroger Field parking lots will open at noon on April 25. The concert will begin at 6 p.m.

Standard parking permits for the concert are not associated with any specific lot at the Kroger Field Complex and purchasing a permit does not guarantee access to a specific lot. Vehicles with standard permits will be assigned to a lot based on the route of entry used by each vehicle and may be directed to the nearest lot and/or space available based on time of arrival.

Vehicles larger than a standard parking stall are not permitted in lots, unless they have an RV permit. Attendees purchasing an ADA permit will also be required to show a valid ADA placard or license plate upon entry to the ADA lot.

The online headquarters for “A Concert for Kentucky” is UKathletics.com/Stapleton. It is currently home to only parking information, but complete information for fans attending the performance will be added in the coming weeks.

The performance is the first concert ever held at UK’s Kroger Field and will feature very special guests Willie Nelson and Family, Sheryl Crow and Yola.

100% of the concert’s net proceeds will go toward Chris and Morgane Stapleton’s Outlaw State of Kind Hometown Fund. Established in partnership with the Blue Grass Community Foundation, the fund will specifically support local and national organizations directly impacting Kentucky, with initial grant distributions focusing on music and arts education.

Presented by Live Nation, the concert went on sale in October. A limited number of tickets remain available through Live Nation.

Kentucky-born Chris Stapleton is a multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM Award-winner and one of the country’s most respected and beloved musicians. Following his quadruple platinum breakthrough solo debut album Traveller, Stapleton released two No. 1 albums in 2017. Both From A Room: Volume 1 (certified platinum) and From A Room: Volume 2 (certified gold) take their name from legendary RCA Studio A, where they were recorded with Grammy Award winning producer, Dave Cobb. Released to overwhelming critical acclaim, The Tennessean praises, “Both are rich with the textures of Stapleton’s vocals that make him one of country music’s most beloved artists, classic country sounds and thoughtful articulate lyrics about love, life and pain.” He is nominated in three categories at the 2019 CMA Awards: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year (“Millionaire”) and was recently announced as the first-ever ACM “Artist-Songwriter of the Decade” recipient by the Academy of Country Music. Earlier this year, Stapleton recorded the Randy Newman-penned song, “Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy,” for the Toy Story 4 soundtrack and has collaborated on songs with P!nk, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Sheryl Crow. He will continue his extensive, sold-out “All-American Road Show” through 2020.
