Martens, Vick, Peyton & Baalman Named CoSIDA All-District
LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time in program history, the University of Kentucky softball team had four players named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, as pitcher Grace Baalman, second baseman Alex Martens, first baseman Mallory Peyton and outfielder Bailey Vick were placed on the team.
The CoSIDA All-District Team was published and now the four players named to the team will now by placed into the final round of voting for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be released at a later date.
Baalman and Peyton will be returning to Kentucky next season as one of the elite pitchers and power hitters in the Southeastern Conference. Peyton was second in the NCAA this season in home runs and one of the most illustrious power hitters in the nation this season. Baalman was strong in the circle for a third-straight season, picking up three wins in her eight appearances.
Bailey Vick was second in the NCAA in batting average in 2020 and Alex Martens led the NCAA in runs batted in with 47 on the year, 13 more than any other player in the NCAA. Both Martens and Vick announced the termination of their collegiate careers this month to pursue professional opportunities in the workplace of their graduating majors.
