Ellen Ekholm Wins SEC Co-Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ellen Ekholm was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Women’s Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after a nation-leading high jump mark in College Station, Texas.
Ekholm won the women’s high jump with a mark of 6-0.75 (1.85-meters) which was a school record, a meet record and currently leads the NCAA.
Ekholm is the reigning SEC champion in the outdoor high jump. She was also a bronze medalist at SEC indoors last year.
This is the second week in a row that the Wildcats won weekly honors from the SEC. Last week, Alexis Holmes won Women’s Runner of the Week, Langston Jackson won Men’s Runner of the Week and Megan Moss won Co-Freshman of the Week.
The Wildcats are back in action on Friday and Saturday as they host the Rod McCravy Memorial at Nutter Field House. This will be the final indoor meet hosted by UK this season. The meet is open to the general public and admission is free. It will also be streamed live on SEC Network+.
