UK Men’s Soccer Falls at No. 5 Indiana in NCAA Tournament
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Kentucky’s run in the 2019 NCAA Championship ended in the second round with a 3-0 loss at No. 5 seed Indiana on Sunday at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
Kentucky ends the season with a 13-5-3 (4-2-1 Conference USA) record. Indiana (15-2-4, 7-1 Big Ten Conference) moves on to face the winner of No. 12 seed Saint Mary’s and UC Santa Barbara.
“I’m really proud of the team,” said head coach Johan Cedergren. “They battled. It’s been a really good season.”
The Wildcats finished Sunday’s match with seven total shots, landing four on target. The Hoosiers aimed seven of their 12 tries on goal, with freshman Victor Bezerra recording the third postseason hat trick in Indiana history.
Kentucky finishes the season with at least 13 wins for the seventh time in school history. The total is the second-highest of Cedergren’s eight-year tenure, following a school record 19 wins in 2018.
