Kentucky Softball Signs Five Players in November Window

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Head softball coach Rachel Lawson announced the addition of five players to the Kentucky Softball team on Friday afternoon, as five new Wildcats signed their National Letter’s of Intent to join the UK Softball program beginning in the fall of 2020.
 
Erin Coffel, Victoria Fragoso, Meeko Harrison, Vanessa Nesby and Stephanie Schoonover all signed their NLI’s in the November window. They collectively are ranked as the No. 16 recruiting class in the country by FLOsoftball, and Erin Coffel is one of the highest-ranked players ever to sign at Kentucky, as she is the No. 7 nationally-ranked player in the country.
 
“This is a very versatile class that brings a lot to the table,” Lawson said. “We have identified five Wildcats who embody Mr. Barnhart’s core values of living up to an ELITE 1-3-5 standard and will work extremely hard towards delivering a championship to Big Blue Nation. All five of them bring something different to the team and we can’t wait to have them on campus next August.”

Bremen, Indiana; Infielder

  • Ranked as the No. 7 player nationally by FLOsoftball, one of the highest-ranked recruits ever to sign with Kentucky
  • Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year for 2018
  • First Team All-State her sophomore and junior years of high school, hitting .593 and .621 in those two seasons
  • NIC Conference MVP her sophomore and junior seasons
  • Helped lead her team to a Class 2A state runner-up finish in 2018

Victoria Fragoso 

Victoria Fragoso
La Mirada, California; Infielder

  • Hit .300 in her junior year with a .352 slugging percentage and was First Team All-League
  • Helped lead her HS team to a No. 1 ranking in the country in 2018 and the Bullhead City Tournament City championship
  • Trinity League champion in 2017 and 2019
  • Her travelball team Won Berth for PGF premiere 2017,2018, and 2019
  • Travelball team additionally was runner’s-up at The Champions Cup 16U division as 14U team (Robert Young Firecrackers 14U)

Meeko Harrison 

Meeko Harrison
Fontana, California; Infielder

  • Has hit .495 and .490 in her last two years of high school softball
  • Received the team MVP award in 2019
  • First Team All-League in 2018 and 2019
  • Travelball team was third in the Boulder IDT Tournament this past year in 2019
  • Has lettered in softball four years at Etiwanda High School

Vanessa Nesby 

Vanessa Nesby
Corona, California; Outfielder

  • Has led her high school team to three CIF appearances
  • First Team All-League in the 2018 and 2019 seasons
  • Lettered four years at Santiago High School in Corona, Calif.
  • Helped lead her team to a 2018 and 2019 Las Vegas Premier PGF berth
  • Participated in the 2017 Georgie Premier PGF Tournament

Stephanie Schoonover 

Stephanie Schoonover
Dothan, Alabama; Pitcher/Outfielder

  • Has finished in the top four of the Alabama State Championships all four years, helping to lead her team to a runner-up finish in 2016 and 2019
  • Pitched over 170 innings this past season with 296 strikeouts, a 1.30 ERA.
  • Offensively this year, she hit .370 with an on-base percentage of .436, 15 home runs and 56 RBI
  • 2019 5A Pitcher of the Year in the state of Alabama
  • Last season, she accumulated All-Area honors in addition to being All-State, Super All-State
