Team Records and Series Notes

  • This was the 12th season the Blue-White Game was played in Rupp Arena.
  • Tonight’s attendance was 13,574.
  • The teams combined to shoot 50.3 percent from the floor (67 of 133). The Blue team shot a combined 50.0 percent from the floor and 32.1 percent from 3-point range. The White team was 50.7 percent from the floor but 23.3 percent from long range.
  • The teams combined for 69 total rebounds with 26 coming by way of offensive snags.
  • Kentucky returns to the court Oct. 27 with the first of two exhibition games. UK’s first tune-up will be against Georgetown College on Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. on SEC Network.
  • The regular season begins Nov. 5 with a neutral-court date vs. Michigan State at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN as part of the State Farm Champions Classic in New York.
  • The program is holding an alumni weekend over the next two days. Festivities began Friday night at the Blue-White Game and will continue Saturday with a tour of UK facilities, practice and a dinner. Approximately 90 players, former coaches and staff members spanning eight different decades are in attendance this weekend.

 
In the First Half

  • The White team’s starting lineup consisted of freshman Tyrese Maxey, sophomore Immanuel Quickley, freshman Kahlil Whitney, sophomore EJ Montgomery and junior Nick Richards.
  • The White team opened with sophomore Ashton Hagans, freshman Johnny Juzang, freshman Brennan Canada, freshman Keion Brooks Jr. and graduate transfer Nate Sestina.
  • Richards opened the game with a second-chance bucket and scored the White team’s first six points.
  • Blue’s first bucket was a 3-pointer by Hagans.
  • Holding a 16-15 lead, White went on an 11-2 run to take a 27-17 lead at the 10:39 mark.
  • Blue closed the half strong. Down by as many as 14 points (35-21) at the 6:29 mark, Blue cut the deficit to 46-39 at halftime and got as close as five points.
  • Maxey and Sestina were the leading scorers in the first half, each scoring 13 points for their respective teams.
    • Maxey was 6 of 11 from the floor.
    • Sestina rebounded from a slow start and finished with a 3-point flurry. He made three from deep and was 4 of 8 from the field overall.
  • Richards was impressive in the first half with 10 points and seven boards.
  • Brooks Jr. posted nine points and six rebounds in the first half.
  • White shot 56.4 percent from the floor and Blue was at 45.5 percent.

 
In the Second Half

  • After intermission the squads changed up. The White team was changed to Maxey, Whitney, Brooks, Juzang and Richards. The Blue team was Hagans, Quickley Canada, Montgomery and Sestina.
  • After trailing for much of the game, Blue took its first lead since the 16:52 mark of the first half (7-6) when Hagans drained a 3-pointer at the 12:18 mark to take a 60-59 lead.
  • With limited depth, the game went to a running clock around the five-minute mark.
  • The two teams traded leads the rest of the way with White edging Blue 81-80.
    • Maxey took advantage of the running clock and slowly brought the ball up to avoid a last possession by the Blue team.
       

Player Notes  

  • Immanuel Quickley scored a game-high 25 points with a pair of 3-pointers.

    • He also had six assists and a pair of steals.
  • Nate Sestina finished with 22 points and four rebounds.
    • He drained a team-high four 3-pointers and shot 66.7 percent from the floor.
  • Nick Richards earned a double-double with 20 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
    • He scored the game’s first six points for the White team.
    • He matched Sestina’s output of a field-goal clip of 66.7 percent.
  • Keion Brooks Jr. also had a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards.
  • Ashton Hagans had 14 points and added game highs in assists (six) and steals (three).
    • He drained three 3-pointers which would be a career high if it had been a regular-season game.
  • Tyrese Maxey scored 17 points and added five rebounds and five assists.
