No. 12 Kentucky Heads to Cedar Falls to Play in UNI Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Volleyball team, ranked No. 12 in the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association poll released Monday, will make the 630 mile journey northwest this weekend to compete in the Northern Iowa Tournament, where UK will face No. 15 USC, No. 23 Creighton and Northern Iowa, who is receiving votes.

The matches on Friday with UK playing Southern Cal and Creighton will be shown live on ESPN+ and the ESPN app with the proper subscription. Kentucky vs. Northern Iowa will not be streamed due to the Panthers having a home football game on campus at the same time.

The Wildcats will play Creighton at 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday morning to kick off the tournament before turning around to face the Trojans at 6 p.m. ET Friday night. All games will be played at the McLeod Center (6,500) on UNI’s campus in Cedar Falls.

The tournament closes for the Wildcats against hosts Northern Iowa on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Kentucky will look to bounce back in 2019 from an 0-3 weekend in this tournament a year ago that opened the season in Los Angeles. UK faced all three teams in the start of the 2018 season and took at least one set off of all three, but escaped back to Lexington without a win before turning around to win 26 of their next 27 matches in the season.
