No. 22 Kentucky Ends SEC Season at No. 3 Alabama

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Riding a four-game winning streak, the No. 22 Kentucky softball team will make the trip down to Tuscaloosa, Alabama over the weekend to play its final Southeastern Conference series of the season over the weekend against the No. 3/3 Alabama Crimson Tide at the Rhodes House.
 
Friday’s game will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. Saturday and Sunday’s games will be aired with Mark Neely and former Washington All-American and national champion pitcher, Danielle Lawrie. Saturday’s game is at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN with Sunday’s series finale airing at 3 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
 
UK has won four in a row, including its third SEC series sweep of the season this past weekend against No. 14 Auburn. The Wildcats scored seven runs in all three games against the Tigers, and starting pitcher Grace Baalman threw 14.0 complete innings without allowing a run and giving up just four hits.
 
Offensively, Jenny Schaper led the charge as she was crowned SEC Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon for her Senior Weekend performance, in which she hit over .400 and had three home runs, including her third multi-homer game of the season on Saturday’s second game of the DH.
 
In 2018, Alabama took two out of three off of Kentucky at John Cropp Stadium. Alabama leads the all-time series with Kentucky, 47-6. Rachel Lawson is 6-18 all-time vs. Alabama as the head coach of the Wildcats. Alabama has taken two of three from UK in the team’s last two series (2016 – Tuscaloosa, 2018 – Lexington. UK has never swept Alabama. The last Alabama sweep of UK was in 2012 (at UK).
 
Alabama is ranked No. 3 in the nation in both polls this week, with a 46-4 record on the year.
