Jenny Schaper Named SEC Player of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Jenny Schaper had a weekend to remember at John Cropp Stadium, and it was made even better on Tuesday afternoon, as she has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Player of the Week.
The St. Louis, Missouri native hit three home runs in UK’s first sweep of No. 14 Auburn since 2009 over the weekend. She also had the game-winning run on a solo HR in the bottom of the sixth in a 0-0 game to clinch a sweep of the Tigers on her Senior Weekend on Monday night.
In the last two games of the series alone, Schaper clubbed five hits in seven at bats with three HR’s and six RBI. Her three hits in the game vs. Auburn on Sunday set a new career high.
Additionally, in UK’s midweek contest at Louisville, Schaper had the game-tying sacrifice fly to the warning track in center on Wednesday night to tie the game at 7-7 when the Wildcats were down a run. Her .583 on-base percentage led Kentucky in the three games over the weekend.
The Wildcats conclude the home schedule on Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET against Eastern Kentucky. The game will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app with Dave Baker and former Arizona All-American, Jenny Dalton-Hill on the call. Tickets are available through the UK Ticket Office.
