Kentucky Hosts No. 14 Auburn for Senior Weekend in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 23 Kentucky Wildcats softball team will welcome in the No. 14 Auburn Tigers to Lexington for its final home Southeastern Conference series of the season over Easter Weekend, kicking off on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET running through Monday night.
Senior Night ceremonies will take place on Saturday night at 6:45 p.m. ET inside John Cropp Stadium, as fans are asked to arrive early to show their appreciation for the 2019 class of Katie Reed, Abbey Cheek, Jenny Schaper, Kelsee Henson and Sarah Rainwater.
All three games will be nationally televised with Saturday and Monday’s games shown live on the SEC Network at 7 p.m. ET. Sunday’s game will be shown at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Tiffany Greene and former Alabama All-American Kayla Braud will have the call from Lexington, including “Mic’d Up Monday” as head coach Rachel Lawson will be mic’d up for the game.
This weekend is Senior Weekend at John Cropp Stadium as Katie Reed, Abbey Cheek, Kelsee Henson, Sarah Rainwater and Jenny Schaper will be honored for their four-year careers. The senior class has amassed 146 wins in its time at Kentucky, helped the team make the NCAA Tournament in all three years, appeared in two NCAA Super Regionals and helped guide the Wildcats to a UK regular-season record 44 wins in their freshman season of 2016.
The only SEC team that the current crop of Kentucky senior have not defeated is Auburn. The Wildcats were swept by the No. 4 Tigers in Lexington in 2016, lost in the quarterfinals of the 2017 SEC Tournament to Auburn and then was swept by AU on The Plains in 2018. UK is 17-41 all-time against the Tigers, with Kentucky’s last win in the series coming back in March 4, 2012.
Kentucky is 28-16 overall on the season and .500 at 9-9 in SEC action this season. The Tigers have 34 wins to their name and are 9-6 in the league this season, two games back from the conference lead.
