Cats to Wrap Up Regular Season at Nebraska Quad Meet
LINCOLN, Neb. – No. 9 Kentucky (6-6, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) will wrap up the regular season in its second quad meet of 2019, taking on host No. 18 Nebraska (10-5, 6-3 Big Ten Conference), No. 13 Boise State (11-2, 5-1 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference), and No. 56 Illinois State (2-11, 2-2 Midwest Independent Conference) on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
The Wildcats enter Saturday seeking a counterpoise to their Jan. 13 quad meet at then-No. 29 Illinois, where they landed in third place via losses to the Fighting Illini and Oregon State coupled with a win over Lindenwood. The meet was the second of three straight 195-point performances to open the season, a trend that seems far away from a team that has scored better than 197.000 in four of its last five.
The Cats broke a program scoring record last week versus No. 37 Central Michigan, defeating the Chippewas 197.525-195.875 prior to a special senior night ceremony honoring the most decorated class in UK history. But, it was junior Mollie Korth who led the charge by becoming the first competitor this season to record outright victories on every event in a single meet. The Cambridge, Wis. native earned a 9.900 on both vault and bars and a career-high 9.925 on beam, while tying a career-high 9.950 on floor for a career-high 39.675 all-around total.
Kentucky is seeking its first win over all three opponents in each respective all-time head-to-head series. The Cats are 0-11 versus Nebraska and 0-1 versus Boise State, while Saturday marks the first all-time meeting between Kentucky and Illinois State.
