UK Looks to Spoil Vanderbilt’s 15-match Unbeaten Streak
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kentucky will look to play the role of spoiler on Sunday afternoon in the Music City, as the Wildcats play at Vanderbilt. The Commodores will be playing to keep alive a 16-match unbeaten streak – in addition to knowing that a win secures them at least a share of the Southeastern Conference championship.
Vanderbilt is ranked No. 10 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll, and No. 12 in the nation in the TopDrawer Soccer poll. The Commodores currently sit ranked 11th in the NCAA RPI – and will look to solidity a national seed with a continued run of success.
The Wildcats were officially eliminated from any SEC or NCAA postseason play on Thursday night after a 2-0 loss to Ole Miss. The Wildcats are winless in their eight SEC matches this season and sit 4-13-0 overall on the year. Kentucky allowed a goal less than 90 seconds into the match on Thursday before the Rebs put the dagger in just after halftime as Channing Foster netted a brace with both Ole Miss goals.
Vanderbilt leads the all-time series with Kentucky 16-12-1. The last UK win in Nashville came in 2013. Last season, the Commodores blanked UK 2-0 at the Bell Soccer Complex in Lexington.
