UK Men’s Soccer Unveils 2018 Fall Schedule

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team announced its fall 2018 schedule, which includes three home games against teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season.
 
Nine teams on UK’s upcoming schedule finished last season in the top -50 RPI.
 
Kentucky will open the season with a three-game home stand at the Vickie & Wendell Bell Soccer Complex. The opener will be August 24 vs. DePaul. The home-opening stretch will conclude against in-state rival Louisville on September 4.
 
Kentucky will play its first Conference USA match at UAB on Sept. 8. Last season the Wildcats were 4-2-2 in conference play.
 
Kentucky will finish the season hosting Old Dominion (Nov. 2) before heading down to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Conference USA Tournament.
 
The Wildcats will play a home preseason friendly August 12 against St. Louis University. They will then hit the road to play at Northern Kentucky in their only road preseason friendly.
 
Kentucky returns an important corps of players from a year ago, including Conference USA Golden Glove Award, Freshman of the Year, First Team All-C-USA and the Conference All-Freshman Team and All-Southeast Region Enrique Facusse.
 
UK also brings back a talented young core including C-USA All-Freshman Team members Leon Jones and Aimé Mabika.
 
Seventh-year Kentucky head coach Johan Cedergren also added Josh Oldroyd to the staff to serve as an assistant coach, alongside Chase Wileman, who enters his fifth year in 2018.
 
Oldroyd joins the UK staff after spending the past two season at Evansville, where the Purple Aces went a combined 21-16-5 the past two seasons. He replaced David Casper, who was hired as ETSU head coach. UK will face them at The Bell on Sept. 26.
