Mallory Peyton Named SEC Freshman of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman infielder Mallory Peyton was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Peyton was instrumental in Kentucky’s series win over No. 12 South Carolina, knocking in eight runs in three games, hitting .400 and hitting two home runs including her first-career grand slam.
 
The Madisonville, Kentucky native has had a magnificent freshman season, and erupted over the weekend to win her first-career weekly award as a Wildcat.
 
UK will face the seventh-seeded Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. ET in the opening round of the 2018 SEC Tournament. The game will be shown live on the SEC Network, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
