TJ Beisner Hired as New CoachCal.com Editor
LEXINGTON, Ky. – TJ Beisner, who has served as the lead anchor of Kentucky Sports Television since 2012 and was a key component of building the foundation for the wildly popular Kentucky Sports Radio blog, has been tabbed as the new editor of CoachCal.com, the official website of UK men’s basketball head coach John Calipari.
Beisner will begin immediately.
“TJ comes to us highly regarded for his work ethic, his out-of-the-box thinking, and his past relationships with our student-athletes and staff,” Calipari said. “As our fans know, I like to use my website and social media to give the Big Blue Nation a transparent look into our program. TJ’s ideas for content for the site align with what I hope to deliver to our fans every day. I’ve been proud of what the site has offered over the years and I’m looking forward to TJ taking it to the next step.”
As editor of CoachCal.com, Beisner will be responsible for managing all content on CoachCal.com, working hand in hand with Calipari to produce stories, videos and more, share in responsibilities for managing Calipari’s social media channels, and creating revenue opportunities for JMI Sports. In addition to the traditional duties of CoachCal.com, Beisner will also assist in producing content for additional JMI Sports avenues.
“We are thrilled to have TJ join our staff, said Paul Archey, president of UK Sports & Campus Marketing. “His experience and creativity will help take CoachCal.com to another level for our fans. TJ will also be a great asset in helping to create and implement other unique content ideas across UK Athletics.”
Beisner will take over the CoachCal.com reins after a long and successful run at KSTV. Beisner served as the host of the statewide nightly program that focuses on UK’s athletic programs since June 2012.
In his role, Beisner was responsible for the long- and short-term planning of sports content on cn|2 Sports and KSTV. He worked closely with UK to schedule shoots and one-on-one interviews, developed online promotional plans for KSTV and cn2, and coordinated tasks for a staff of two producers and five videographers. He also served as the producer of KSTV for a year, prior to taking over as the anchor, where he wrote and produced the 30-minute nightly show, booked guests on a nightly basis, and served as a fill-in host.
Prior to Beisner’s move at KSTV, he was the senior managing editor of the website KentuckySportsRadio.com, widely regarded as one of the most popular sports blogs in the country. Beisner’s duties at KSR included developing the long-term and short-term content strategy for the site, assigning stories, hosting live blogs and co-hosting the radio arm of KSR.
He has also been a mainstay on the local Lexington and Louisville airwaves as a popular media personality and has produced content for CBSSports.com (including the initial “College Basketball Road Trip” and “One Blogging Moment” during the 2010 NCAA Tournament) and Rivals.com.
Beisner is the fourth editor of CoachCal.com and will take over for Metz Camfield, who led the website from November 2014 to February 2018.
