Wildcats Host Texas A&M on Senior Day
LEXINGTON, Ky. – In its home finale, the Kentucky women’s tennis team will host Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon at the Boone Tennis Complex. First serve is set for noon, with Senior Day festivities honoring UK’s two seniors, Mami Adachi and Emily Fanning, beginning at 11:30.
Once again, the match will have huge implications for the upcoming Southeastern Conference Tournament as both teams have matching 5-5 records in league play.
Kentucky (13-6, 5-5 Southeastern Conference) enters the match off a big 4-1 victory over LSU on Thursday.
Adachi is having a phenomenal senior season on the singles court, owning a 13-1 overall record including a flawless 5-0 mark in SEC play. She has not lost a singles match since Jan. 26. Adachi also teams with fellow senior Fanning to form the 42nd-ranked doubles team in the nation.
Junior Justina Mikulskyte currently ranks No. 112 in singles this season, having played primarily at the No. 1 spot and earning three ranked wins in dual play.
Texas A&M (15-6, 5-5 SEC) is coming off a 4-0 loss to Vanderbilt on Thursday. The Aggies’ roster features two ranked singles players in No. 77 Macarena Olivares and No. 125 Domenica Gonzalez. TAMU’s duo of Gonzalez/Eva Paalma come in at No. 52 in the doubles standings.
Next up, Kentucky will hit the road for their final weekend of the regular season. The Cats will take on Florida on Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m. and South Carolina at noon on April 14.
