Dukes Selected to SEC Community Service Team
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kentucky junior Sidney Dukes has been named to the 2018 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Community Service team for the second-straight year, the league office announced Friday afternoon.
Each year, the Community Service Team looks to highlight athletes from each school who give back to their communities in superior service efforts.
Dukes has participated in a number of service projects over the past year. Last summer, along with select Kentucky athletes, went to Panama on a service trip. Dukes helped construct housing, delivered beds and mattresses, served food to orphans and helped deliver hygiene supplies to residents.
The Tyler, Texas native also served as a buddy in the Little League Challenger baseball program, which was created for any player with physical or intellectual challenges to participate in the game of baseball. Dukes, along with the rest of the UK team, works with Team Impact and has helped sponsor a child as an honorary member of UK.
Dukes is a two-time member of the SEC Community Service Team, a two-time All-SEC team member and was a 2016 NACGC First Team All-American.
Kentucky will compete in the SEC Championships tomorrow at 7 p.m. live on ESPN2.
