No. 14 Wildcats Continue Road Stretch at No. 11 Ole Miss, Mississippi State
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After going 2-0 in Southeastern Conference road matches last weekend, the No. 14 Kentucky women’s tennis team will continue its road stretch this weekend with No. 11 Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
The Wildcats (11-3, 3-1 SEC) will take on the Rebels at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday before traveling to Starkville to face the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Entering the weekend, UK has won eight of its last nine matches including four straight victories on the road. The Wildcats are 4-1 overall in road matches this season.
Senior Mami Adachi is having a phenomenal season in singles with an overall singles record of 11-1, and has won nine straight singles matches. Sophomore transfer Diana Tkachenko is also making a huge impact for the Blue and White, with an overall singles record of 10-1 in dual matches this season. Both are undefeated in SEC action this year.
Kentucky will look to take down its first top-15 opponent of the season on Thursday, as Ole Miss (10-4, 1-3 SEC) enters the match ranked 11th in the nation. The Rebels are coming off a tough 4-3 loss to No. 18 Auburn on Sunday. Ole Miss is led by senior Arianne Hartono, who owns a 10-1 record at No. 1 singles this season. Hartono is ranked 13th in the nation.
Mississippi State (10-5, 1-3 SEC) is coming off its first league win of the season after rallying back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Alabama, 4-3, on Saturday. The Bulldogs will take on No. 2 Vanderbilt on Thursday before welcoming the Wildcats on Saturday.
