No. 22 Kentucky Opens Home Season Against Dayton

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky softball team will take its potent offense and dominant pitching home to Lexington this week, as the Wildcats host their first midweek game of the season in its home opener against Dayton before participating in the 2018 John Cropp Classic over the weekend.
 
The home season starts on Thursday against Dayton at 4 p.m. ET from John Cropp Stadium. UK’s home opener will be called on the SEC Network+ by Dave Baker and former All-American for Arizona, Jenny Dalton-Hill.
 
All of the games over the weekend of the John Cropp Classic will be broadcasted live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app.  The weekend’s games called by Baker and Virginia Tech standout Dorian Craft.
 
UK is coming off a 4-1 weekend down in Orlando at the 2018 Diamond 9 Citrus Classic and enter the week with a 9-3 overall record. The Wildcats are paced offensively by Bailey Vick, who is hitting .633 on the year – which also leads all SEC hitters.
 
Grace Baalman has been the stud in the circle for UK with a 2.25 ERA and 5-1 record.
 
Dayton enters Thursday’s game with a 4-6 overall record after two road trips to Charlotte, NC and San Diego. UD has wins over Radford, UNC-Wilmington, UC Santa Barbra and San Diego. The Flyers have three players hitting above .300 on the year, and are led in the circle by pitcher Manda Cash, sporting a 2.07 ERA with a 1-2 record in 27.0 innings thrown.
