Team Records and Series Notes
-Kentucky falls to 8-2 this season, while FGCU rises to 9-2.
-Matthew Mitchell is in his 11th season as head coach at Kentucky. He is the winningest head coach in program history at 249-102.
-Tonight’s matchup was the first meeting between the two programs.

  • Kentucky owns a 7-1 all-time record against teams from the current alignment of the Atlantic Sun Conference.

-Kentucky will continue its road trip Sunday, taking on Miami at 1 p.m. The game can be seen live on ACC Network Extra and the Watch ESPN app, and will be broadcast on the UK Sports Radio Network with Darren Headrick calling the action.
 
Team Notes
-Kentucky used the starting combination of senior Alyssa Rice, senior Makenzie Cann, junior Taylor Murray, junior Maci Morris and freshman Tatyana Wyatt.

  • UK is 0-1 with that starting-five combination.

-Kentucky opened the game on an 8-2 run, but the Eagles responded with a 16-6 run to end the first quarter.
-FGCU used a 14-0 run in the second quarter and start of the third quarter to open up its lead.

  • It was just the fourth time this season a UK opponent has gone on a run of 10-0 or better.

-In the third quarter, the Eagles stretched their lead to as many as 14, but Kentucky responded with an 11-3 run to help cut the deficit.

  • UK trailed by eight at the end of the third quarter.

-UK opened the fourth quarter on a 12-5 run to tie the game at 57-57 with 5:04 left in the game, but FGCU responded with a 9-0 run and the Wildcats would not recover.
-After being outscored in the paint 20-18 in the first half, the Wildcats ended the game with a 40-28 edge in the category, holding FGCU to just eight points in the paint in the second half.
-Kentucky also outrebounded FGCU, 42-33.
 
Player Notes
Taylor Murray led the Wildcats in scoring with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds.

  • It was the third time this season she’s led UK in scoring and the third time this season she’s recorded 15 or more points.
  • She also led the Wildcats with two steals in the game.

Tatyana Wyatt added a near double-double in her first career start, posting 11 points and eight rebounds.

  • She’s scored in double figures in four of her five games played this season.
  • Her three defensive rebounds were a career high.

Makenzie Cann led UK on the boards with 10 rebounds, matching her career high.

  • Cann matched her season high with two steals.
  • Cann has 10 rebounds in three games this season.

Alyssa Rice also added double-digit scoring, with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Jaida Roper had 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting in the game.

  • Her five made field goals matched her career high.
  • It was the sixth time she scored in double figures this season.
  • She also added four rebounds and two assists.
