UK Women’s Soccer Announces Open Tryout Information

by Chris Shoals

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team will be holding an open tryout for full-time students enrolled at the University of Kentucky. The tryout will take place on Tuesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. ET inside the Nutter Fieldhouse.

If you are interested in participating in the tryout, you must contact assistant coach Melissa Charloe in order to get a tryout card. Tryout cards require some time to complete, so we encourage you to reach out ASAP. She can be reached at Melissa.Charloe@uky.edu or by calling 859.257.6225.

Steps needed to complete tryout card:
1. Pick up tryout card from Melissa Charloe, UK assistant women’s soccer coach in the Soccer/Softball office building. The address for that is 556 Wildcat Ct., Lexington, KY 40506

2. Once you have the below three medical items, you will need to bring them to team Athletic Trainer, Hailey Rockwood. Her phone number and contact information will be given when you pick up the tryout card.

  • Physical completed within the last year signed by a physician
  • A sickle cell test result that is on an official document from a certified lab
  • Current medical insurance card

3. See the UK compliance department located in the Joe Craft Center. The compliance department will then sign off that you are eligible to participate in the tryout.

Players will need to come to the tryout in soccer training apparel with shin guards and cleats.

Physicals and sickle cell tests can be obtained free for full-time students through University Health Services. If you need a physical, please request a sickle cell test when you make you make your appointment. If you only need a sickle cell test, please contact Hailey Rockwood. UHS recommends having the test administered by Feb. 7 in order to receive the tryout card.
