Euler Forces Playoff in German International Amateur Championship
HAMBURG, Germany – Junior Lukas Euler became the third Kentucky men’s golfer in the last month to finish atop of the leaderboard in an amateur event this summer. Euler boasted a 12-under score at the German International Amateur Championship at the Hamburger Golf-Club Falkenstein course, which wrapped up on Sunday.
Euler’s performance forced a playoff to determine the winner of the event, but eventually fell in that portion of the tournament. That did not diminish the impressive play by the Dieburg, Germany, native.
He fired a 3-under score on the fourth day of the tournament. His third round was the best of the weekend with a 4-under score. He carded a 2-under and a 3-under in the opening two rounds.
For the tournament, Euler combined for 19 birdies and one eagle.
Euler has competed in 18 tournaments through the first two years of his Kentucky career. As a sophomore, he totaled a 73.3 stroke average – a career low. He also earned four top-20 finishes, including a tie for ninth at the General Hackler Championship to lead all UK performers. Euler has been a member of each of the last two Southeastern Conference Championship teams and UK’s NCAA Regional qualifying starters.
