Breanne Ray and Katie Reed Named CoSIDA All-District

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky softball players Katie Reed and Breanne Ray have been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, it was announced on Thursday afternoon. Ray joins the All-Region Team for the third year in a row, as Reed makes the team for the first time in her career.
Ray is currently hitting a career-high .296 on the season with four doubles, two home runs and 26 RBI – which is second on the team. The Benton, Kentucky native has a 3.99 grade point average and is going to be the first person from her family to graduate from college with a degree in Communication Science Disorders.
Reed is a St. Louis, Missouri native who is co-leading the Wildcats in batting average, currently hitting at a .349 clip. The sophomore has nine doubles on the season, which is also tied for the lead on the team, and has knocked in 19 runs. Defensively, she has started every game this season at shortstop, where she currently has the highest fielding percentage of any SS in the Southeastern Conference. She has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in Human Health Sciences.
Kentucky concludes regular season play this weekend with a three-game series at (RV) Mississippi State beginning Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. The 2017 Southeastern Conference Tournament will be May 10-13 at Lee Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
