No. 18 Kentucky Rides Six-Game Win Streak into Senior Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After two midweek wins, the No. 18 Kentucky softball team will put its Southeastern Conference leading six-game winning streak on the line over the weekend against the No. 5/4 Texas A&M Aggies at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington.
The series opener is slated for 6 p.m. ET on Friday night, with Saturday and Sunday’s games coming at 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. This weekend will also serve as Senior Weekend, where the Wildcats will honor Meagan Prince, Breanne Ray and Shannon Smith as part of Saturday’s Senior Day festivities.
Game two of the series on Saturday afternoon will be shown live on the SEC Network, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app with Pam Ward (pxp) and National Pro Fastpitch commissioner Cheri Kempf (color) on the call. Both Friday and Sunday’s games will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
Kentucky’s offensive prowess has found its way back the last several weeks, as the Wildcats currently have four batters hitting over .300 on the season paced by Bailey Vick, who is at .350. Abbey Cheek, who has homers in two of the last four games, is in at .333 with 10 long balls on the season and a team-leading 33 RBI.
In the circle for the Wildcats, Erin Rethlake leads the way with a 1.36 ERA on the season, but it’s Meagan Prince in the wins department with 16 W’s on the season that paces UK. Prince threw a complete game on Wednesday night in her hometown return to Martin, Tennessee, as the Wildcats won their sixth game in a row to move to 32-13 with an 8-2 win over UT-Martin. Prince has thrown over 140 innings this season, walking 32 and striking out 148.
The Texas A&M Aggies enter the weekend as the No. 5/4 team in the nation with 40 wins to their credit thanks to a high-powered offense and great pitching from Samantha Show. The Aggies have seven players on their roster hitting over .300 on the season, including Riley Sartain who leads the team at .387 on the year who has 11 home runs and 37 RBI.
In the circle, Show is 16-3 this year with a 1.42 ERA in just over 100 innings thrown. Show is backed up in the circle by Lexi Smith who has pitched in 96 innings with a perfect 11-0 record and a 1.46 ERA.
