KENTUCKY ATHLETES IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Kentucky’s veteran duo of senior Aldila Sutjiadi and junior Mami Adachi is ranked No. 4 in the ITA rankings. They began 2017 as the nation’s top-ranked tandem after winning their first national title at the UTSA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Nov. 22. The twosome is 10-4 in the spring season, including a 4-2 mark in SEC play.
Individually, Sutjiadi is UK’s top-ranked singles player, holding the No. 19 singles spot. In the fall season, Sutjiadi won the singles title at the 2016 Ohio Valley Regional Championships. The senior owns a 6-5 record in dual matches this season all at No. 1 singles. Last weekend, Sutjiadi picked up her highest-ranked win of the spring season, downing No. 34 Alizee Michaud in straight sets.
Sophomore Akvile Paražinskaite re-entered the singles rankings last week at No. 125 after downing then-No. 65 Christina Rosca of Vanderbilt. Paražinskaite owns a 10-3 record in dual matches this season, including a 4-3 mark in league action.
SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS
Arkansas (14-5, 4-3 SEC) dropped both its matches last weekend, falling to No. 1 Florida and No. 24 South Carolina.
The Razorbacks’ roster boasts three ranked singles players in No. 48 Shannon Hudson, No. 115 Ana Oparenovic and No. 121 Leolia Jeanjean. In doubles, Hudson pairs up with Giulia Pairone to form the No. 38 duo.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Missouri (10-8, 1-6 SEC) has dropped five straight conference matches and have not won an SEC match on the road. The Tigers will first take on No. 5 Vanderbilt on Friday before heading to Lexington.
The Tigers’ lineup features one ranked doubles pair as junior Amina Ismail and senior Beatriz Machado Santos combine to form the No. 64 tandem.
