Kentucky Wraps Up Penultimate Day at NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The Kentucky men’s swimming and diving team completed its second day of action at the 2017 Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday in Indianapolis. Senior Kyle Higgins and sophomore Seb Masterton saw action in the preliminary events.
To start the day, Higgins swam the 100-yard butterfly for the Cats, posting a personal-best time of 47.14. The senior finished 42nd in the event overall.
In the 3-meter springboard prelims, Masterton competed in his final event of the season as he posted a score of 318.70 to finish 28th in the field. On Thursday, Masterton earned All-America honorable mention in the 1-meter dive after competing in the consolation final and finishing 13th overall
The Wildcats will be back in action for the final day of the championships tomorrow as Higgins is set to compete in the 200 butterfly. Higgins hold the No. 18 seed in the event after turning in a school-record time of 1:42.66 in the event at the Ohio State Invitiational in November.
Saturday’s events will follow the same schedule as previous days with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. ET and the finals session will begin at 6 p.m.
