LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky track and field junior Tim Duckworth was named Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
He broke the British record in the heptathlon scoring 6,006 points to win at the 42nd annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. He was named MVP of the meet.
He also broke his school record en route to the win. His score is the second best in the nation this season, and he became the first British man to surpass the 6,000-point barrier on the back of personal bests in all but one of the seven events.
Duckworth had the best heptathlon score in the nation this weekend. When stacking up in individual events his high jump of 7’1” ranks No. 19th national and third in the SEC.
He earned SEC Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career.
