Courtney Love Named to SEC Community Service Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky junior linebacker Courtney Love has been selected to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Love, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, has been very active in the community since transferring from Nebraska in 2015. 

In May of 2016, Love was one of three Kentucky football players chosen to participate in a service/educational trip to Ethiopia where he helped build houses, made shoe-shining boxes for the homeless and provided food to impoverished families. He currently serves in a mentoring program with local high school students using Skype technology to talk to them about the importance of good grades and making wise decisions. He also has participated in an event at the Indian Summer Camp for children who are cancer survivors or currently have cancer, and has taken part in events with the UK Children’s Hospital, Read Across America, Special Olympics and “Champ’s Camp” youth football camp, along with other service activities.

Love, who also was a nominee for the Danny Wuerffel Trophy for academic, football and community service excellence, has started in all 12 games and has been elected a team captain in 11 of them. He ranks third on the team in total tackles with 68 and had a crucial fumble recovery vs. No. 11 Louisville that set up UK’s game winning drive. It was his first fumble recovery as a Wildcat.

He also was very active in community service as a Husker, earning a Student-Athlete Hero Leadership Award and being named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team as a redshirt freshman.
