Wildcats in the Pros -- Nov. 1

Each week, Wildcats in the Pros catches up with some former Kentucky student-athletes who are doing big things in professional athletics. 

It was a winning week for former Wildcats in the NFL.

It started on Thursday when Avery Williamson and Wesley Woodyard led the Tennessee Titans past Jacksonville, 36-22. Williamson had seven tackles, including a sack, while Woodyard added a pair of tackles in the contest.

The Atlanta Falcons showed-off in an impressive game Sunday versus the Green Bay Packers. Jacob Tamme, former Wildcat and current Atlanta Falcons tight end, caught two passes for 19 yards as the Falcons held off the Green Bay Packers 33-32.

And on Monday Night Football, it was Danny Trevathan leading the Chicago Bears to a 20-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Travathan, another former Kentucky linebacker having success in the NFL, had six tackles and two pass deflections in the victory. 

Former Wildcat Anthony Davis captivated fans around the country with his impressive opening to the 2016-17 season. The New Orleans Pelicans power forward scored 50 points in Wednesday’s season opener versus the Denver Nuggets. Davis also had 15 rebounds, five steals, four blocks in the game.

 

Davis followed up his stellar season opener with another outstanding performance. Facing the defending Western Conference Champion Golden State Warriors, Davis scored 45 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. In the process, Davis became the first player since Wilt Chamberlain (1961-62) to score at least 90 points in his first two games.

Former Wildcat Julius Randle is also off to a nice start to the season. The Los Angeles Lakers power forward scored a combined total of 45 points through his first three games. Sunday was his most notable game of the season start with 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Phoenix Suns have a stacked roster of former Wildcats who are off to a solid start. Three of the four Suns averaging double figures in points played at Kentucky, led by Eric Bledsoe (16.5 ppg). Devin Booker (15.3) and Brandon Knight (13.3) are also off to solid starts.

Former Wildcat DeMarcus Cousins continues to be a force in the paint for the Sacramento Kings. Through four games, Cousins is averaging 26 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest. Cousins scored a season-high 37 points and grabbed 16 rebounds against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.
