Every year the John Calipari Women’s Clinic gets better and better. This year it was raised to a completely different level.
A record crowd of 1,053 women attended the eighth annual clinic on Sunday. In order to accommodate everyone, the clinic was moved to Rupp Arena this year for the first time.
The attendees were treated to pictures and autographs from Coach Cal, Ellen Calipari and former Kentucky forward Alex Poythress. Prior to the 2016-17 players being introduced, The Calipari Foundation presented a $10,000 check to the Markey Cancer Foundation on behalf of the Women’s Clinic.
After a 30-minute workout from the No. 4 Wildcats, strength and conditioning coach Robert Harris brought down a few ladies to go through some of the team’s workout drills, including Ellen Calipari and WKYT anchor Jennifer Palumbo.
After a couple videos, associate head coach Kenny Payne and assistant coaches Tony Barbee and Joel Justus then went through a few basketball drills with the women, and the attendees were invited to take smaller group pictures with the team.
