UKXC to Begin Cross Country Season Thursday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky cross country teams will begin the 2016 season with a 4,000-meter race dual meet against Cincinnati on Thursday at Masterson Station Park.
The meet will begin with the women’s race at 5 p.m. ET, with the men’s race following at 5:30 p.m.

The Kentucky men’s team finished fourth at the Southeastern Conference Championships in 2015, earning its best finish since taking the same place in 2011. The Kentucky women’s team placed 12th at SECs in 2015.
Jacob Thomson, who begins his junior year coming off a SEC Outdoor track (5k and 10k) double in 2016, qualified for NCAAs as a sophomore in 2015. 
Katy Kunc, an All-Southeast Region finisher in 2015, figures to lead the UK women’s team in this her junior season. 
The Kentucky men’s team was picked to finish fourth, and the women’s team was projected to be 10th at the 2016 SEC Championships by league coaches. 
The Kentucky women’s team is ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region to begin the season. The Kentucky men’s team is ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region.
