Men’s Golf Adds Max Mehles

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a tremendous postseason run, Kentucky men’s golf coach Brian Craig has added to his arsenal for the future with the signing of one of the world’s top amateur players in Max Mehles.
“Max is a super accomplished young player with more big time amateur experience than anybody we have ever signed,” Craig said. “He will have to sit out a year, but will be ready to compete starting in the 2017-18 season. I can’t wait to coach Max. He is tremendously talented, but also has the desire and dedication to be the best in this game. Max is going to be a great fit for our team and I look forward to him helping us win SEC and NCAA Championships.”
Mehles, who hails from Germany, has succeeded on every level of competition.
He is a two-time German individual champion and has represented Germany in every team event players were nominated for since 2011. He has competed in five European Team Championships and one World Cup.
He placed third overall at the European Team Championship. Other top career finishes include fifth place at the French Amateur in 2014, 10th at the European Nations Cup Individual Stroke Play in 2016 and tied for 16th at the British Amateur in 2014 and 2015.
Mehles will join fall signees Allen Hamilton, Jacob Cook and Matt Liston for the 2016-17 class.
