UK Track & Field Set for Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Kentucky track and field teams will venture
south for their first major team competition of the 2016 outdoor season, the
Florida Relays, this weekend.
The meet begins Thursday afternoon and continues through Saturday.
Many Wildcats, particularly those who competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships
at the start of the month, are scheduled to open their outdoor seasons in
earnest this weekend.
The meet is being broadcast on SEC Network+ on Friday and Saturday.
Kentucky enters the weekend with two NCAA leaders: Jacob Thomson ran a 29:01.34
10k last weekend, and Jasmine Quinn’s 13.01 in the 100m hurdles two weeks ago.
Thursday events to watch include some of the first elite 200m, 400m and 400m
hurdles races of 2016. Running events begin at 2 p.m.
The men’s hammer throw will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and the javelin is
scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
UK’s women’s team was rated No. 9 nationally to begin the outdoor season in the
United States
