Four Wildcats Compete on Second Day of NCAA Championships

ATLANTA –  Kentucky men’s swimming and diving concluded the second day of the NCAA Championships on Friday, with two swimmers and two divers representing the Wildcats.

Senior George Greenhalgh had the highest finish for the Blue and White in his first career individual national appearance.  He tied for 19th in the 100 breast, clocking in at 52.80 seconds.  Greenhalgh, the Kentucky record holder in the event, not only went sub-53 for the first time in his career this year, but he has done so in four consecutive races.  He finishes with a UK record time of 52.51 seconds.  

Kyle Higgins swam in the 100 fly, posting his third sub-48 of the season.  The junior clocked in at 47.95 seconds, placing 46th overall.

The duo of Seb Masterton and Levi Lindsey had their final outing on the springboards of the season, competing in the prelims of the 3-meter dive.  Masterton was in contention for a top-16 spot for the majority of the prelims, but unfortunately suffered a missed dive on his final attempt and fell to 46th with 303.70 points.  Lindsey placed 50th overall with 288.95 points.  

Tomorrow’s session will begin with prelims at 10 a.m. ET with finals to follow at 6 p.m.  Higgins and Greenghalgh will both swim in their 200-yard stroke specialty, with Higgins competing in the 200 fly and Greenhalgh swimming in the 200 breast.  Masterton and Lindsey will wrap up their competition in the platform dive, starting at approximately 12:30 p.m. following the conclusion of the swimming prelims.
