MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Kentucky rifle team, currently ranked
No. 3 in the country, will hit the road to take Great American Rifle Conference
foe and top-ranked West Virginia on Saturday for their third top-10 matchup of
the last four opponents.

The two teams have already competed at the same site once
this year at the Akron Invitational. Kentucky walked away with first place and
their best aggregate score of the season so far, 4703. West Virginia owned
second place out of nine teams with a score of 4697.

The Mountaineers currently hold the top three places for
highest aggregate score in the country with scores of 4740, 4724, and 4719. The score of 4740
against Akron on Jan. 17 is the NCAA record.

“West Virginia is a great team so we have to go there and pay
attention to what we are doing and not worry about what they are doing,” UK
head coach Harry Mullins said. “I am excited to see how the team performs on
the road again. They have been training well.”

The No. 3 Wildcats are coming off their fifth best score of the season in a
home tri-match with No. 2 Murray State and No. 9 Memphis. Kentucky added those
schools to the list of top-10 opponents they’ve defeated this season. The list
includes No. 1 West Virginia, No. 5 Alaska, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 8 Nebraska,
and five other teams in the CRCA Top-20.

Hanna Carr and Sonya May look to replicate their performances from last
week. Carr finished as the top individual with the third best aggregate score
of her career, 1179, and a team-leading smallbore score of 592.

May finished second overall and first in air rifle, tying her
season-high and team-high score of 595.

Billy Azzinaro also set personal records in aggregate score with an 1176
and smallbore with a 586.
