UK Rifle Begins 2016 with Win at West Point
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Kentucky rifle team moves to 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Great American rifle conference after a 4649-4597 win over No. 10 Army on Saturday.
Kentucky shot a smallbore score of 2295 and an air rifle score of 2354.
Three Wildcats owned the top three spots in the individual smallbore standings, led by freshman Hanna Carr with a 582. Teammates Carmen Fry and Jason Scharbel followed behind her with scores of 579.
In air rifle, Heather Kirby posted a score of 592 to take the top spot in those standings while four other Wildcats rounded out the top five. Carr and Sonya may took second and third place with scores of 588, followed by Jenna Bethea in fourth with a 587 and Fry in fifth with a score of 586.
Carr, Fry, and Scharbel also took the three overall individual aggregates with scores of 1170, 1165, and 1164.
Kentucky’s next match is slated for Sunday against No. 12 North Carolina State. They will remain in West Point for the match. Live results can be found here.
