Men’s Tennis Durham Bound for Duke Sunday

DURHAM, N.C. –
Following two victories in the season opener, the Kentucky men’s tennis team is
headed on the road to Durham, N.C., to face the Duke Blue Devils on Sunday
afternoon. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m.

The University of
Kentucky men’s tennis team opened its 2016 season with a bang on Friday,
collecting two wins over in-state foes, as the Wildcats toppled Northern
Kentucky (7-0) and Eastern Kentucky (7-0) to start the season off 2-0 for the
fourth-straight season under head coach Cedric Kauffmann.

In the opening
match, the freshman class that shined in Florida last weekend was strong again,
as Enzo Wallert and Rytaro Matsumura teamed up to win 6-1 on court two in
doubles as the freshman/freshman connection was strong all afternoon long. The
veterans of the squad returned to go undefeated on Friday, as senior Kevin Lai
teamed with junior Nils Ellefsen to record a 3-3 result (DNF) and sophomores
William Bushamuka and Trey Yates breezed past Nick Lang and Blaine Carr of the
Norse, 6-1 on court three.

The 13th-ranked
Duke men’s tennis team opened the 2016 dual match season with a 6-1 triumph
against Elon on Friday evening in their lone match thus far.

Following tomorrow’s
match, the Wildcats will take a six day hiatus before facing Michigan in the
friendly confines of Boone Tennis Center.
