Meet the Wildcats: Megan Kinney

LEXINGTON, Ky. – In preparation for the Kentucky women’s golf team’s return to the course in late January for the all-important spring season, UKathletics.com will be featuring a profile on each of the Wildcats in the “Meet the Wildcats” series. The weekly series is an opportunity to get to know a little more about the 2015-16 Kentucky women’s golf team.

The series continues this week with junior Megan Kinney.

Kinney is in her third season with the Wildcats and has played in 10 career tournaments, including two in the fall. Perhaps her finest moment at Kentucky came just recently when she sunk her first career hole-in-one in the second round of the Minnesota Invitational. Kinney aced the par 3, 166-yard sixth hole.

She’s a two-time Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll member and a four-time Academic All-State selection in high school. 

During her high school days she won the 2012 Kentucky Region 7 championship, recorded top-15 finishes in the 2011 and 2012 Kentucky State Tournaments, and owns the scoring average record (75.1) and lowest round score (68) at Western Hills High School.

The concert she is dying to see is … Justin Timberlake … again.

Her secret talent is … I can turn my feet around backwards.

The one TV show she never misses is … House of Cards.

The toughest course she’s ever played is … Valhalla.

The one course she wants to play is … Augusta National.

If she could play golf with a dream foursome, she would invite … Justin Timberlake, Mike Tomlin and Jimmy Fallon.
