Trio Earns Academic All-District Accolades
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky seniors Landon Foster and Jordan Swindle, and sophomore Charles Walker, have been named Academic All-District, the College Sports Information Directors Association announced on Thursday afternoon.
Foster, UK’s four-year starting punter out of Franklin, Tenn., has a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a finance major. A semifinalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, given to the nation’s top community servant, Foster is a three-year Academic All-Southeastern Conference selection and a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in 2014. Foster is also on the watch list for the Campbell Trophy, awarded to the nation’s top scholar-athlete and the Ray Guy Award, given to the NCAA’s best punter. In his career, Foster has 233 punts for a 41.8 yard average, ranking fourth in UK history.
A native of St. Johns, Fla., Swindle has been a fixture on the offensive line throughout his career, playing in 42 games with 32 starts. UK’s 6-foot-7 offensive tackle, Swindle is kinesiology major with a 3.91 cumulative GPA.
Walker, a native of Louisville, Ky., owns a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a finance major. A key member of UK’s special teams unit, Walker has fought his way into the receiving rotation and owns four catches for 52 yards as a sophomore in 2015, with two going for clutch first downs. Walker has five catches in his career, good for 56 yards.
Kentucky (4-4, 2-4 SEC) will face Georgia on Saturday, with kickoff slated for 12 p.m. ET and the game televised live on the SEC Network and broadcast live on the UK Sports Radio Network.
