Men's Soccer to Close Non-Conference Slate with Detroit on Tuesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will play its final non-conference match of the regular season against Detroit on Tuesday at The Bell.

Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. at The Bell. The match will be broadcast on SEC Network+.

The setup
Kentucky enters Tuesday’s match fresh off a double-overtime victory at Charlotte on Saturday. The result clinched at least a share of UK’s first-ever Conference USA regular season title.

Kentucky is 10-3-2, 6-0-1 C-USA (W-L-D)  this season and the winner of two in a row. The Wildcats are unbeaten in their last two and undefeated in four straight.

Detroit is 6-3-8 this season and 2-1-5 in the Horizon League.

Kentucky has the 10th best goals-against average defense in the country, allowing .61 per game. The Wildcats have conceded 10 goals in 14 games this season, and just two in the last five matches.

Noah Hutchins was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on Monday, after he scored the winner at Charlotte from 20 yards out.

Callum Irving was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row.  The MAC Hermann Award watch list member and 2014 All-American totaled 11 saves in a pair of conference wins last week.

The opponent
Detroit enters Tuesday’s match on a three-match winning streak including a 3-2 win over Wright State, which UK defeated 2-1 in the second match of the season.

Detroit has a win over this season over B1G power Michigan and a scoreless draw against Valparaiso, which UK defeated 2-1 in the season opener.

The Titans have played one other C-USA opponent this season, losing 1-0 at home to Marshall on Aug. 30.

Kentucky and Detroit have played once before – in 2008 – with UK winning 5-0 in Lexington.

The logistics
Gates will open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $5 for the general public and $2 for youth and seniors. Fans can call (800) 928-2287 for tickets, or purchase at the ticket window at The Bell.

Kentucky’s 600-plus season ticket holders can wear their 2015 Kentucky Soccer scarves to gain admission.

Kentucky has welcomed a record 14,579  fans to men’s soccer games at The Bell this season, an average of 1,620 per game, which has given the Wildcats one of the best gameday atmospheres in the country.

Parking for the match is first come first served located outside the stadium’s main entrance. Overflow parking will be available above the soccer practice field as directed by UK event staff.
