Katy Keen Named SEC Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Katy Keen of the
University of Kentucky women’s soccer team was named the Southeastern
Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office in
Birmingham, Ala., on Tuesday.

Keen scored the game-winning goal
in the “Battle of the Bluegrass” over rival Louisville in the second half, her
first-career goal. She also had the assist on the game-winning goal over Ohio
to put UK up 1-0 in the ninth minute over the Bobcats. She played over 80
minutes in both Friday and Sunday’s shutouts as a midfielder. For the weekend, Keen had three shots with
two of them on goal, a game-winning goal and a game-winning assist.

UK opens up SEC action on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET against Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. The game will
air nationally on the SEC Network with Pete Pranica and 1999 World Cup Champion
Kate Markgraf on the call. Sunday, UK returns to the Bell Soccer Complex to
face Wisconsin in a 3 p.m. ET match that will air on the SEC Network with Lisa
Byington and Olympic champion Cat Whitehill.
