EUGENE, Ore. – Kentucky’s Dezerea Bryant finished fifth in the United States 200-meter dash final at Hayward Field on Sunday.
She ran 22.48 (+0.4), while Jenna Prandini won in 22.20.
Bryant – a semifinalist for the Bowerman Award having won the NCAA 200m Title two weeks ago — qualified for the U.S. team that will compete at the Pan American Games next month in Toronto. She finished .04 seconds outside one of the top-three finishes that would have given her a spot on the IAAF World Championships team.
The 2015 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships were Bryant’s first meet as a post-collegian and she advanced to the final in both the 100m and 200m.
Five Wildcats qualified to represent Team USA later this summer by virtue of their finishes at the USATF Championships this weekend.
Kendra Harrison claimed the American Silver Medal in the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday, to book her spot on the World Championships team.
Sha’keela Saunders placed fifth in the long jump on Saturday, qualifying for the PanAm Games, and as the first alternate for the World Championships.
Jacklyn Howell earned the Silver Medal in the junior 100m hurdles to earn a spot on the U.S. team for the junior PanAm games, which will be held next month in Edmonton, Canada.
Alumnus Andrew Evans placed third in the discus, and he will represent the U.S. at the NACAC Championships, and should he reach the IAAF “A” Standard will move on the World Championships.
